Production Resumes on Hummers as H2 Plant Re-Opens
June 5th, 2008 | by admin |There have been less Hummers in production ever since AM General had to shut down one of its Hummer plants back in March. The Hummer H2 plant is about to re-open which will mean that Hummer 2 production will be back in full swing.
The Hummer Plant Strike
There has been a strike from manufacturers which caused a Hummer plant in Indiana to shut down on March 2008. The details of the strike have now been resolved which means that the Hummer H2 plant is in a position to re-open. AM General has announced that the Hummer 2 plant will begin operating again in June 2008.
Hummer H2 Production
Many people are interested in learning why it is that the Hummer 2 plant continues to roll out Hummer H2 vehicles despite the fact that there are newer Hummers now available. The Hummer H2 is a vehicle made by American General which was the first company to make the civilian Hummer. Hummers are now made by General Motors but American General still produces the Hummer 2.
Changing Demands for Hummer 2 Plant to Consider
As the Hummer 2 plant re-opens, it’s going to have to consider the fact that interest in Hummers is changing over time. The fuel inefficiency of the Hummer H2 is going to need to be dealt with if sales of Hummers are going to continue. People want a Hummer that isn’t going to cost them a fortune at the gas pump.
Hummers Helping the Economy
In general, we think about the changing economy as being bad for sales of expensive gas-guzzling vehicles like the Hummer H2. However, Hummer sales can actually stimulate local economies. The re-opening of the Hummer 2 plant in Indiana is one example of a place where much-needed jobs can be created.
